Nancy (Smith) Roberts ’83 graduated from Lewis & Clark College with a BS in Health Education. She continued her studies at the University of Washington earning a Masters of Public Health in 1991. Nancy recently retired after a 37 year career with Providence St. Joseph Health. For her last eight years she served as the Chief Operating Officer at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center. She began her affiliation with Providence with an internship in the Educational Services department at St. Vincent while a senior at Lewis and Clark. While Chief Operating Officer she oversaw a four year renovation of the main hospital in-patient tower, construction of a new critical care unit and provided operational leadership throughout the COVID-19 crisis. During long career with Providence she’s served in a wide variety of leadership roles and contributed to initiatives as diverse as the deployment of the electronic health record system Epic across the five states to launching use of new operational excellence tools and processes to leading efforts in safety, quality and patient experience.

Throughout the years Nancy has served on a number of organizational boards including Childpeace Montessori School, the Westside Economic Alliance and the Vision Action Network.

Nancy has been married to Brock Roberts ’81 since 1984. He retired from ZGF Architects in 2020. They have two daughters, Lauren and Sarah, and one granddaughter Lydia (born in 2020)
