Jeffrey L. Fellows ’86 graduated from Lewis & Clark College in 1986 with a BS in Business Administration. He has served on the 30th reunion committee for the class of ’86 and the LC Philanthropy Council from 2018-2019. He received his PhD in economics from the University of Utah in 1997.
Dr. Fellows developed an interest in political economics at LC through coursework with Martin Hart-Landsberg. This interest led him, with Mart’s help, to the heterodox economics program at the University of Utah. He returned to Portland to complete his dissertation and taught courses in Money and Banking and Economic Development as an adjunct instructor at LC and Portland State University.
Dr. Fellows is a Senior Investigator and health economist at Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Research (CHR) in Portland, Oregon. He has over 18 years of experience implementing and evaluating tobacco control and oral health research in community and clinical settings. He is the director of the Western Region of the National Dental Practice-Based Research Network, a collaborative of over 7,500 U.S. dental practitioners, researchers, and stakeholder organizations. His current research focuses on national studies of SARS-CoV-2 risk mitigation at dental offices and practitioner’s readiness to provide COVID-19 and other vaccines at dental offices. Prior to joining CHR in 2002, Dr. Fellows spent five years at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, where he taught economic evaluation methods, led the economic evaluation program, and estimation of the health and economic consequences of smoking.
Jeff met his partner Kate Shoaff (LC ’86) shortly after graduation. They live in Portland and have two adult children, Henry (OSU ’17) and Madeleine (LC ’19).
