Christopher V. Cox graduated from Lewis & Clark College with a degree in Chemistry in 1982. While there he went to Nepal with the LCC Overseas program and experienced health care in the third world spending time in remote field hospitals.

Dr. Cox graduated Medical School from the University of California, San Francisco in 1986 and then completed Surgical Internship and Residency in Orthopedic Surgery also at UCSF. After Residency he completed a Fellowship in Adult Reconstructive Surgery at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic in Los Angeles.

Dr. Cox is now in a private practice affiliated with UCSF in San Francisco. He is the Medical Director of the Joint Replacement Center at California Pacific Medical Center and an Associate Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at UCSF. He helps teach residents and medical students. He is a Fellow of the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons and American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. He returned to Nepal in 2005 as part of Operation Walk to perform hip and knee replacements for those in need there.

The mountain views from campus inspired a love of mountaineering and he has climbed Mts. Hood, Rainier and Shasta in the Cascades as well as Aconcagua and Cotopaxi in South America and Kilimanjaro in Africa. He is an avid cyclist.

Dr. Cox is married to Katherine Young, an Artist and Plastic Surgeon. They have a daughter Kristen.
