“The Rogers program was probably the most influential experience I had in college. I came into it a math major and I came out of it a chemistry major. At American Chemical Society conference, I got to poster with my lab mates, go to talks and see different facets of chemistry, and learn from other students’ research. It was really awesome for me to put something in context like that.
I think trying to break down barriers, to make science less intimidating and less separated, would be super fun. Trying to be in a mentorship role, that’s part of what we do with the Club.”
Liz is a student leader in the Pre-Health Professions Club.
The club fosters community among pre-health students, raises awareness about on- and off-campus resources, and improves the success of pre-health students applying to graduate schools. The student club holds many events to support students interested in healthcare including a career panel, CPR certification, suture clinic, volunteering trips, guest speakers, and monthly meetings. Student leaders provide peer advising and mentorship to younger students and act as advocates for all pre-health students by coordinating with faculty and staff to develop meaningful curriculum and programming.
