Mary Hooper Drabkin BA ʼ53, October 25, 2020, age 89. After graduation, Drabkin moved to New York City, where she met and later married Murray Drabkin. From New York, the couple moved to Washington, D.C., where Mary worked as a licensed tour guide, leading trips to Africa, Europe, and Asia. Eventually, she and her husband moved to Trappe, Maryland, where they restored an 18th-century farmhouse. After many years on the East Coast, Mary lived the last six years of her life in her native Portland. To honor Mary’s passing and her love of poetry and literature, her family is establishing an endowed scholarship at Lewis & Clark, named after Mary and her late husband. The Mary Hooper Drabkin ’53 and Murray Drabkin Scholarship will provide support to worthy students who share Mary’s love for poetry and literature.
