Hometown: Ridgefield, WA - also known as the birthplace of U-Haul.
Favorite spot on campus: The pedestrian bridge. The very first time I visited campus I was enamored with the quintessentially Pacific Northwest structure, and I feel like I’m on a forest adventure walking across it!
Little-known fact about me: I have run the Portland Marathon twice. The first time when I was 15 and then the second time 10 years later. Exploring 26.2 miles by foot in one day is a pretty incredible way to tour the city, and I highly recommend it.
Piece of advice for students in the college search process: The college search process is an excellent time for some thoughtful self reflection. Use it as an opportunity to get to know yourself better; ask questions about what you enjoy doing, where you like to be, and the type of people you enjoy being around. Lastly, take some time to picture your life in 5-7 years - where do you see yourself, and in what ways do you hope that you’ve grown?
Favorite place to spend time in Portland: Hiking or running in Forest Park.
If I was stranded on a desert island, I would want these three things:
- An atlas - not to be useful, I just enjoy looking at maps.
- A guitar - I don’t play but I suppose that teaching myself would give me something to do.
- Cookie dough ice cream - because what would life be without it?
If I didn’t work in Admissions, I would be: A park ranger, preferably in either Yosemite or Olympic National Parks.
Admissions is located in Frank Manor House on the Undergraduate Campus.
