Anne McHugh BA ’10 is a science teacher at Franklin High School in Portland. In fall 2019, she was recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency with the Presidential Innovation Award for Environmental Educators. She was one of only 11 educators selected nationwide for the award and was the only winner from the Pacific Northwest region. “My students are doing biodiversity research, much like undergrads in the science labs at Lewis & Clark,” McHugh says. “I really want them to see that even if they’re not going into STEM, STEM’s going to be something that is part of their lives as they enter the real world.”
