
Bethany Hays
Lecturer
Bethany Hays was born in a small town outside of Yakima, WA and holds a BA in Foreign Language–Spanish from Central Washington University; a BA in Studio Art from The Evergreen State College; and an MFA in Contemporary Art Practices from Portland State University. Hays usually expresses herself through painting and drawing, focusing on feminist themes and using imagery associated with home and domesticity to challenge cultural ideals of beauty and value. Recent exhibitions and awards include: She Flies With Her Own Wings, Salem Art Association, Salem, OR; Erratic Formations, Alexander Gallery, Clackamas, OR; New Views, Laura Russo Gallery, Portland, OR; Cummulus Congestus, North View Gallery, Portland, OR; Artistic Focus Project Grant, Regional Arts and Culture Council; Money for Women Grant, Barbara Deming Memorial Fund
