Justin Howerton ’21 (he/him)
English & Mathematics/Computer Science Major
Justin is originally from Memphis, Tennessee. After looking at schools across the country, he ultimately decided to attend Lewis & Clark for its academic rigor, intimate community, and location in the Pacific Northwest. Justin is double majoring in English and Mathematics/Computer Science and hopes to synthesize the two fields of study by pursuing Digital Humanities work after graduation. Joining the SAA in the fall of 2019, Justin is excited to establish new connections between the student body and alumni through innovative panels and potential articles.
In his life outside of the classroom, Justin is currently one of the Editors-in-Chief of the Literary Review, a student organization that collects submissions of poetry, fiction, and visual art among other mediums and publishes them in an anthology at the end of each academic year. Additionally, Justin is a staff writer for the Pioneer Log as a contributor for the Arts section and other sections of the paper. He also works in the Resource Lab in Watzek Library assisting his peers with creative projects and poster printing. Justin spends his free time reading, writing poetry and fiction, painting, taking pictures, and going on runs through Tryon Park and River View Natural Area.
