What three words would you use to describe L&C?
What’s your favorite class? How has it expanded your knowledge?
ECON 262 Developmental Economics with Professor McCarthy.
Who is your mentor on campus? Why do you consider this person your mentor?
My baseball coach, Matt Kosderka. He not only cares about my performance on the baseball field but is always making sure I am succeeding in my courses and set up with resources for when after I graduate.
What made you want to come to Lewis & Clark?
As a student-athlete, DIII is the perfect balance of athletics and academics. The ability to thrive in both the classroom and the ballpark is unparalleled.
How did you get involved with Campus Living? What has your involvement with Campus Living added to your L&C experience?
I was a New Student Orientation (NSO) leader last year and will hopefully do it again for the next two as well. I help acclimate first-year students to Lewis & Clark by answering questions and giving advice on how to succeed here. That experience has led me to create new friendships and a greater sense of belonging on campus.
What advice do you have for prospective students?
Don’t try to “be cool”: be quirky, get out there, go past your comfort zone. Who cares about the person you were at home! You have a chance to be whoever you want here, so take that opportunity.
What’s your favorite spot on campus?
The weight room.
What’s your favorite thing about living in Portland?
The proximity to a major city that has tons of shops, major sports teams, and an ever-growing job base.
How did you decide on a major?
I had a pretty clear idea of what sector I wanted to go into after college and economics was the best fit for that path.
What have been the biggest challenges you have faced at Lewis & Clark?
Trying to balance school and sports in a way that doesn’t harm you and/or take away from the college experience and ability to make friends.
What’s your best Lewis & Clark memory so far?
NSO as a student leader.
How do you manage stress?
Workout.
How has Lewis & Clark changed you?
Lewis & Clark has really broadened my worldview and how I react with other people. I have become more outgoing and have found a new sense of joy in my schooling.
