Justin Henderson
Professional Mental Health Counseling—Specialization in Addictions
Professor Henderson joined the graduate school in 2016 as the director of the Community Counseling Center and member of the professional mental health counseling faculty. After serving in that capacity for six years, he has accepted a tenure-track position as co-director of the professional mental health counseling—specialization in addictions program. Professor Henderson’s scholarship focuses on improving individual and community wellbeing and advancing social justice. He is particularly interested in the application of compassion orientations and skills in counseling and systems change. His writing focuses on burnout, self-care, addiction, and mental health.
Rafe McCullough
Professional Mental Health Counseling
Professor McCullough joined the graduate school in 2016 as a member of the school counseling faculty. After serving in that capacity for six years, he has accepted a new position with the professional mental health counseling program. Professor McCullough’s teaching and scholarship center on multicultural and social justice counseling and advocacy, addressing and centering aspects of identity in counseling, disability, and affirming counseling practices for queer, trans and nonbinary individuals. Prior to coming to Lewis & Clark, he served in a variety of settings, both as a clinical mental health counselor and a professional school counselor. He is a licensed mental health counselor in Oregon, Washington, and Georgia.
Melissa Satterberg
Art Therapy
Professor Satterberg is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Oregon and California, a Board-Certified Registered Art Therapist, and a Certified Art Therapist in Oregon. Her clinical lens engages cultural humility and a person-centered framework that is trauma informed. She continues to provide clinical care in both Oregon and California to adolescents, families, and adults in a private practice setting. Her professional experiences include foster care and adoption services, community mental health treatment for children and adolescents, intensive outpatient programs for adolescents and adults, school-based counseling, and day treatment programs for adults living with severe mental health illnesses. She has contributed to art therapy publications on topics related to sexual identity and art therapy supervision. She also provides supervision to postgraduate individuals who are working toward art therapy registration. Professor Satterberg holds a Doctorate in Art Therapy and a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy and Art Therapy from Notre Dame de Namur in Belmont CA.
Tamara Tribett
School Counseling
Professor Tribett is an experienced school counselor and counselor educator, currently serving as coordinator of the school counseling program at Redlands University. In her application materials, she notes that, “The pedagogy I draw from attends to the needs of diverse learners and works to build relationships across cultural identities … Fostering an inclusive, relational classroom is imperative as it deepens student learning and self-awareness, which is the first step in becoming a culturally responsive school counselor.”
Leigh VonDerahe
Teacher Education
Professor VonDerahe has joined the department of teacher education in a .5 FTE. She will be teaching elementary literacy classes for both the full time and part time MAT programs, as well as serving as the Program Director for the Reading Intervention Endorsement. Professor VonDerahe has previously worked at the graduate school as an adjunct in the Reading Intervention Program and has teaching experience in elementary schools—she is delighted to be joining the teacher education faculty!

Angelina Almukhametova
Educational Technology Specialist
Angelina joins the graduate school from Art Institute of Chicago, where she held the position of Audiovisual Systems Supervisor. She holds a BFA in Art and Technology Studies.
Nori Valdez Gruber
Director, Community Counseling Center
Nori joined the graduate school in 2020, serving as a placement coordinator in the Office of Strategic Partnerships and Placements. She has recently accepted the position of Clinic Director at the Graduate School’s Community Counseling Center. Nori is a Licensed Professional Counselor and holds dual board certification as a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CCMHC) through the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC). A 2011 alumna of the Graduate School, Nori is delighted to assist trainees in the process of starting their professional careers as counselors and to support the daily operations of the Clinic.
Michael Sarno
Placement Coordinator
Michael joins the graduate school as Placement Coordinator for School Counseling and School Psychology, bringing years of customer service and project management experience to his new role. Originally hailing from Boston, Massachusetts, he graduated with a BA in History from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in 2014 and helped co-found the University’s Religious Studies program. He worked at Northeastern University in Government Relations and Marketing prior to moving to the Portland area in 2021.
Rochelle Zirdum
CTSP Placement Coordinator
Rochelle joined the graduate school in 2012, developing mental health related events and workshops for the Center for Community Engagement. In 2013, she transitioned to the newly established Strategic Partnerships and Clinical Placements office where she has been delighted in connecting candidates with high-quality clinical placement opportunities for the past nine years. Rochelle recently accepted a new position within the placement office facilitating clinical placement for future therapists and counselors from the graduate school’s art therapy, MCFT, and PMHC and PMHC-A programs.
