José Curiel to become Director of Campus Safety at Pacific Lutheran University

José Curiel will be stepping down from his position as Director of Campus Safety for Lewis & Clark College on May 30, 2022. José joined the Lewis & Clark community in October of 2021.

José will begin a new role at Pacific Lutheran University in Washington as that campus’ Director of Campus Safety. His new role will allow him to work more closely with the Latinx population on campus and in the surrounding Tacoma community as well as provide him additional opportunities to improve the experience of first generation students–all passions of José’s. Additionally, José will also be taking a bigger role in community/university relations and overseeing Parking and Transportation.

During his short tenure, José implemented new campus safety policies and procedures, streamlined processes, helped to improve the overall culture and professionalism of the office, helped to design new uniforms that are more in-line with a College campus, developed new campus safety logos and vehicle decals, as well as made strong connections and partnerships across campus. José will be missed but we are happy and proud of his accomplishments and know that this new opportunity is an exciting one for him and his family.
