IT Offers Incentives to Reduce Data Storage by June 1, 2022

IT will award $25 gift cards each month to the faculty member, staff member, and student with the greatest percentage reduction in storage.

As announced in January, Google will no longer offer unlimited storage to educational institutions. Effective immediately, Information Technology is undertaking a multi-pronged effort to reduce data storage. The goal is to bring our entire domain’s storage under 100TB from our current level of 136.58TB.

Incentives for Students and Employees

To incentivize data reduction, IT will award $25 gift cards each month to the faculty member, staff member, and student with the greatest percentage reduction in storage. In addition, all students, faculty, and staff who delete more than 25 percent of their storage between March 1 and June 1 will be automatically entered into a grand prize drawing for either a $250 gift card or a donation to your preferred charity.

Consult the Spring Cleaning Campaign page for information and next steps on how to reduce your individual data storage, including help sheets and a project timeline.
