Student Life Divisional Awards
Last month, Vice President of Student Life and Dean of Students Robin Holmes-Sullivan presented the first full slate of Student Life Divisional Awards. The 2021 winners are as follows:
Partner Award: Associate Professor of Chemistry and Department Chair Anne Bentley
In recognition of an outstanding faculty member who has contributed to the Division’s attainment of its goals through collaboration, involvement, and partnership.
Medallion Award: College Outdoors Operations Manager Kori Rosenstiel
Her contributions to College Outdoors, especially in light of the challenges posed by the pandemic, have been substantial. She has also demonstrated great commitment to equity and inclusion. She has played a critical role in assessing the reasons why students of color have not participated as widely in College Outdoors trips and opportunities and helped to build relationships, trust and excitement among our BIPOC students to take advantage of the wonderful experiences that College Outdoors provides.
Excellence in Innovation Award: Head Strength and Conditioning Coach/Instructor Angela Dendas-Pleasant
Her efforts to adapt athletics to requirements imposed by the pandemic have been truly heroic. She was able to pivot and innovate to help students be successful. Her work was greatly impacted by COVID restrictions, but she wasn’t fazed by the challenges and was committed to making things work.
Highest Award: Dean Emeritus of Spiritual Life Mark Duntley
Duntley recently retired after 31 years of service. His impact on the student experience and his contributions to the college are immeasurable. Going forward, this award will be known as the Mark Duntley Award.
Team Award: Associate Dean of Students, Executive Director of the Center for Social Change and Community Involvement Kayleigh McCauley-Sayer and Former Interim Director of Inclusion and Multicultural Engagement Dominique Gardner
This award went to McCauley-Sayer and Gardner in April 2021, to accommodate Gardner’s departure last June. As a team, they are a true example of collaboration between two different departments in the Division of Student Life. Their work clearly advanced the strategic directive initiative, and the ongoing efforts for diversity, equity, and inclusion in Student Life and on campus.
