Happy Monday, students!
Fall is definitely in the air and the gentle sound of rain is a welcome visitor to our drier than normal State of Oregon. As you settle into your 5th week of classes, I am sure you are starting to develop a rhythm and routine to college life. I highly recommend that you take advantage of much needed breaks from your hard work whenever you can in order to ensure balance and to make it through the semester.
One of those breaks is just around the corner–Fall Break–from October 7-10th. What better way to relax your mind and rejuvenate your spirit than getting out into the great Oregon outdoors? College Outdoors has curated several fall break trips and clinics that I encourage you to check out and consider attending: OUTside Coastal retreat, Backpack the best of the Northwest, Oregon Coast Ancient Forests, Historic Forest & Beaches, Backpack Oregon Canyonlands, Raft Guide Clinic and Central Oregon & Crater Lake. Sign up soon to secure your spot.
For those of you who have questions about whether you should avoid leaving campus because of COVID-19, I am happy to report that transmission rates of the virus on campus and in Oregon continue to trend downward. You should feel safe to participate in these outdoor adventures or travel around the State, but remember to adhere to all of the safety measures that you have been doing while at school. Make sure you wear masks both indoors and outdoors. Good hand hygiene and socially distancing from others is also a good idea.
If you decide to travel during the Fall Break, you will not be required to undergo routine testing when you return to campus. If you have any COVID-like symptoms, however, you should use the COVID Self-Check and Reporting form and get advice from our health care providers about next steps.
Thanks for everything you are doing to keep our community fun and safe. Please take care of yourself and each other.
PS: Don’t forget about the upcoming flu clinic, September 28th from 9AM-11:30AM. Use the health portal or call (503) 768-7165 to set an appointment.
As always, WeB4Me@LC.
