Oregon Higher Ed Workers Included in Vaccination Group 7
Oregon Governor Kate Brown JD ’85 announced last Friday vaccination sequencing for the remainder of Oregon’s adult population. For Lewis & Clark and all Oregon higher education institutions, “frontline workers as defined by CDC,” including employees of colleges, universities, trade and professional schools, are in Group 7 and will become eligible no later than May 1. The infographics below give a high-level overview of the sequence, timeline, and group definitions.
“While this isn’t nearly as fast as we had hoped, this is encouraging news,” President Wim Wiewel said. “Although it won’t have a significant impact on our spring semester operations, this schedule will certainly help Lewis & Clark with our goal of returning to ‘normal’ instruction by the fall. My hope is that this timeline is conservative, and that state officials might move up the dates announced as new vaccines and larger quantities become available.”
The governor’s announcement follows a concerted effort by President Wiewel and fellow higher education leaders to include colleges and universities–some of whom, like Lewis & Clark, have been teaching in-person since September–in the prioritized category.

The College will share more information about the vaccine roll-out as it becomes available.
