The department of counseling psychology has been renamed and is now the department of counseling, therapy, and school psychology. This change is in effect as of May 1, 2020.

The Graduate School of Education and Counseling is pleased to announce the department of counseling psychology has been renamed and is now the department of counseling, therapy, and school psychology. This change is in effect as of May 1, 2020.

“The department’s new name reflects what our diverse graduate programs share in common while at the same time noting the unique professional education we offer across four distinct disciplines, each with their own bodies of knowledge, clinical practices, educational requirements, and standards of accreditation,” said Teresa McDowell, department chair and professor of marriage, couple, and family therapy. McDowell will be stepping down as chair in August and Cort Dorn-Medeiros, assistant professor of professional mental health counseling, will be taking the reins of the newly minted department of counseling, therapy, and school psychology.

All existing programs and courses offered within the department remain unchanged.
