Donate Your Professional Clothing to IME
Do you have lightly used winter jackets or professional clothing that you do not wear anymore? If so, think about donating them to the Office of Inclusion and Multicultural Engagement!
As some of you may know, a very large part of the IME office is our peer mentor program called Great Expectations (GE). GE serves and supports students of color and/or first-generation college students. Last year the IME office collaborated with many other offices including the Career Center and Alumni and Parent Programs to help our students feel more prepared for networking, interviews, and general career readiness.
Although not all students who come through our office are low-income students, there are many that do identify in that way. These students can find it difficult to show up to networking events and interviews with societally appropriate professional clothing due to financial accessibility. We like to tell our students dress the best you can with what you have. For the upcoming year IME is hoping to help our students by providing an opportunity in the end of September for students to come into our office and pick out some professional clothing.
If you have anything that you would like to donate to this cause we would be so appreciative! Please only donate lightly used washed clothing that you would wear to an interview or networking event (ties, blazers, jackets, pants, blouses, shoes, dresses, etc). On a separate note, we found that many of our students move here from climates that are not as cold and rainy as the PNW and are not prepared. We are hoping to collect some nice winter weather jackets or sweaters during this time as well.
You can drop off your donations to the IME office located on the 3rd floor of Templeton.
Thank you in advance and happy almost school year!
