Student Scholars

Intellectual pursuit is at the heart of a Lewis & Clark education. Our students have an enterprising spirit, a thirst for knowledge, and a hunger to learn something new. All of these traits are on displaying during the annual Festival of Scholars, a daylong event designed to encourage, celebrate, and highlight the achievements of our students. 

The Festival of Scholars showcases student research, performance, and art from across the curriculum. On April 15, over 100 undergraduates presented to their peers and professors, as well as prospective students, alumni, and community members. The day included poster presentations; panel talks on science, economics, philosophy, and gender; music recitals; a physics-in-action workshop; and a reading of James Joyce’s Ulysses. As part of the event, the Department of Rhetoric and Media Studies hosted their second Lambda Pi Eta Film Festival, giving student filmmakers the opportunity to present their work to the Lewis & Clark community. The Festival of Scholars is sponsored by a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

This year, festival organizers also worked with the Campus Activities Board to organize the Carnival of Scholars, an after-party featuring games, rides, and free food.
