President Glassner Participates in Book TV Panel Discussion

On April 9 at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, President Barry Glassner joined other authors for a panel discussion on education broadcast by C-SPAN2’s Book TV.
Fellow panelists included Katherine Ellison, author of Loving Learning: How Progressive Education Can Save America’s Schools; Nikhil Goyal, author of Schools on Trial: How Freedom and Creativity Can Fix Our Educational Malpractice; and Howard Blume, education reporter for the Los Angeles Times.
A sociologist, President Glassner wrote the best-seller The Culture of Fear: Why Americans Are Afraid of the Wrong Things. Released in 1999 and updated in 2010, the book was named a “Best Book of the Year” by Knight-Ridder newspapers and by the Los Angeles Times Book Review.
Glassner’s commentaries in national media outlets tackle major issues of the day in higher education and beyond. His writing has appeared in newspapers including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Chronicle of Higher Education.
