Math Scholarship Recipient

Isaac Goldstein ’16, was recently awarded the Christine Fredricks Smith Memorial Scholarship, the College’s most prestigious award exclusively for mathematics majors.

Isaac Goldstein ’16, from Davis, CA, was recently awarded the Christine Fredricks Smith Memorial Scholarship, the College’s most prestigious award exclusively for mathematics majors.  This Scholarship was established through a gift from Professor Emeritus Greg Fredricks in memory of his daughter, who graduated from the College in 1992 and was killed in an airplane crash in 2007.

This need-based Scholarship is awarded annually to a mathematics major with Junior or Senior standing and a cumulative GPA of at least 3.500. The faculty of the Department of Mathematical Sciences select the recipient based on the candidates’ academic abilities and contributions to the life of the Department.

Isaac was very appreciative and had this to say:
“I am honored to have been chosen for this Scholarship, and would like to thank Professor Fredricks, as well as the math department as a whole. I am truly blessed to work in a community filled with such intelligent and enthusiastic students and Professors and can only give my heartfelt gratitude for their continued support.”
