Gilman International Scholarship Program
The U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship offers awards for study abroad for undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two-year or four-year college or university to participate in study abroad programs worldwide.
In 2019-20 scholarships of up to $5,000 will be awarded for undergraduates to study or intern abroad. Additionally, students studying designated languages may be considered for a supplemental Critical Need Language Award of up to $3000.
Additionally, Gilman scholars are also eligible for 12 months of noncompetitive eligibility (NCE) hiring status within the federal government, with the possibility of extensions if certain criteria are met.
Eligibility: Applicant must be a U.S. citizen, in good academic standing, and receiving a federal Pell Grant. Must be in the process of applying to or already accepted to an overseas program in an eligible country.
Deadline: For study abroad Spring 2022: October 5, 2022, at 11:59 PST. For study abroad Summer 2022, Fall 2022 or Academic Year 2022-23: March 1, 2022, at 11:59 PST.
