Forbes honors young alumnus as top social entrepreneur

Isaac Holeman BA ’09, cofounder of Medic Mobile, has been named to Forbes’ 30 Under 30: Social Entrepreneurs list.
Medic Mobile was built on the idea that cell phone technology can help organizations improve health services. They now support frontline health workers and patients across 8,000 communities in 23 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the United States.
Holeman credits Lewis & Clark with providing the challenging learning environment that gave him the confidence to launch his business.
“I have had some incredible experiences working with technology with friends here on campus, as well as with the vibrant open-source tech community in Portland,” Holeman said in a 2009 interview. “I used to think my fascination with technology was just a hobby. It was only recently that I discovered the field of global health informatics and realized that I could design a career that would bring together technology, information, and global health.”
The Forbes list is made up of entrepreneurs who share conviction, talent, and a business model with proven results. A small group of honorees will be selected to speak at the 2013 Forbes 400 Summit on Philanthropy, an event focused on using entrepreneurship to solve the world’s most difficult problems.
