New Grant awarded to Resonance Ensemble and Kathy FitzGibbon

The Regional Arts and Culture Council (RACC) has recently awarded Resonance Ensemble and director Kathy FitzGibbon a $6,000 Artistic Focus grant for the upcoming production, “Back in the U.S.S.R.”

Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities Katherine FitzGibbon is also the Founder, Artistic Director and Conductor of Resonance Ensemble. Resonance Ensemble is a new, high level vocal ensemble that specializes in concerts that “explore the resonance between music of all eras and art, politics, history, literature, and culture, and most importantly, resonance with our audience.”  In response to Kathy’s application, the Regional Arts and Culture Council (RACC) has recently awarded Resonance Ensemble a $6,000 Artistic Focus grant for their upcoming production, “Back in the U.S.S.R.”  $6,000 is the maximum project grant allowed; these funds will underwrite the costs of hiring the professional musicians, renting instruments, and publicizing the event to wider audiences. This early March 2013 concert will be presented as part of the Portland Shostakovich Festival and will include musical reactions from many composers impacted by the Soviet Regime. The Saturday, March 2nd performance will be held on the Lewis & Clark campus, at the Agnes Flanagan Chapel.
