Choir Tour 2011: Wednesday, March 23

Today, we were able to sleep in a little, since we didn’t load the bus until ten. We needed the rest after our memorable karaoke experience in our hotel’s restaurant last night! We packed out bags, checked out of the hotel, and after we met in the morning, we were set loose in Vancouver for most of the day. It was sunny and warm, and some of us went to Stanley Park or to the water front to soak up the sun. Our group decided to explore the city, so we excitedly set out for breakfast at the famous Elbow Room Café, on vibrant Davie street. At the Elbow Room, if you don’t finish your plate, you’re asked to leave a donation for A Loving Spoonful, an organization that provides food for men and women suffering from both AIDS and hunger.

After our delicious breakfast, we said goodbye to our sassy (in a good way!) waiter and set out down the road in search of adventure or an excuse to pick up some Vancouver merchandise! In the “West End,” we found bunches of cute shops and even more interesting restaurants. We decided to stop for coffee and obviously sat outside to catch some rays and to people-watch. We all agreed that Vancouver was a beautiful and intriguing city, and we couldn’t keep our eyes off the gorgeous view of mountains and waterfront all in one!

After our long walk through the city, we were ready for a nap, which we caught on the bus heading to Bellingham for our final concert on tour. Our jaws dropped when we saw the view through the dome window we would be singing in at the Cruise Terminal: bright blue waters, serene boats tied to the docks, and the spread of Bellingham on the hill across the bay. We were jealous that we couldn’t watch the sunset behind us while sang, but we got right down to preparing for the concert.

The audience was full of Lewis & Clark friends and alumni, and the night went stunningly. After a reception with gorgeous, tasty, and vegan desserts, we were sad that the tour was coming to an end, but we gratefully sank into our bus seats for the drive back to Seattle. We met our Seattle home-stays again at Prospect UCC and headed to bed after a wonderful last day of our tour.
