Alumna discusses resource for young readers

Dana Plautz BA ’82 discusses her popular web resource for children—a site that celebrates reading and storytelling—in this Oregonian profile.

Dana Plautz BA ’82, a member of the college’s Board of Alumni and co-founder of MrsP.com, discusses her popular web site in this Oregonian profile.

Plautz and her partner Clay Graham designed MrsP.com, a unique storytelling site for children, to celebrate reading and books. Plautz and Graham, both former Hollywood executives, collaborated with actress Kathy Kinney, the eponymous storyteller.

“Mrs. P is a website for children started by two Portland residents and actress Kathy Kinney, who plays the title character in a wig and a friendly, off-kilter Irish accent. It’s about as low-tech and low-key as anything on the Web, which is the key to its appeal. There’s no advertising, no distractions and no special effects…” Read more from The Oregonian.

Plautz, who majored in communication at Lewis & Clark, worked for 10 years in the Hollywood entertainment industry and 13 years at Intel, where she specialized in new media and emerging applications.
