Alumni Wine Tasting Series: Featuring Okapi Wines from Jungle Love Vineyard, Napa, California
We’ll kick off our Alumni Wine Tasting series with a visit to Jungle Love Vineyard in Napa Valley to taste two premium Cabernets from Okapi.
Vintners Dan and Kim ’86 Johnson will share two vintages of their estate grown Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon to explore the notable differences between two wines grown in the same vineyard, and made by the same winemaker. We’ll discuss how factors like time and terroir make the difference when the goal is showing the best expression of the vineyard, as opposed to producing for consistency from year to year.
Dan and Kim planted the vineyard in 2006 and launched their boutique label seven years later with the 2010 Cabernet. Since then, Okapi wines have gathered an enthusiastic following, earning recognition from the San Francisco Chronicle International Wine Competition (double gold, gold and silver medals), the North Coast Wine Challenge (“Best of Napa – 99 Points” 2016 vintage), and East Meets West (“Best of Class – 99 Points” 2015 vintage), among others. Winemaker, Ted Osborne will join Kim for this conversation.
