Portland Jazz Festival: Julian Lage Trio feat. Scott Colley & Eric Harland
Date: 7:30pm PST February 27, 2015 Location: Evans Hall
Portland Jazz Festival presents Julian Lage Trio feat. Scott Colley & Eric Harland on February 27 at 7:30pm in Evans Auditorium at Lewis & Clark College. The opening ensemble includes John Stowell, and Lewis & Clark Music Faculty, Dan Balmer and Dave Captein “Remembering Jim Hall.”
Guitarist, arranger, and composer Julian Lage has only progressed since being labeled a young guitar prodigy and playing at the 2000 Grammy® Awards at the age of 13. Typically seen as strictly a jazz guitarist, Lage has various influences that can be heard with his trio or on one of the multitude of records that he has appeared on as a sideman. Some of these include records by Nels Cline, Bela Fleck, Jim Hall and Antonio Sanchez. Lage’s 2010 release Sounding Point garnered him critical acclaim and a Grammy nomination and this positively will not be his last. Lage will make his Festival debut with top-tier rhythm mates, bassist Scott Colley and drummer Eric Harland.
“There’s a disarming spirit of generosity in the musicianship…and a keener sense of judicious withholding.” – The New York Times
