Margie Livingston Margie Livingston is a painter using diverse means to reflect on the weight of painting’s cultural hegemony, the limits of her media, and her artistic forbearers Based in Seattle, she earned her M.F.A. in painting from the University of Washington. Her awards include the Arts Innovator Award in 2010; the Neddy Fellowship in 2010; the Betty Bowen Annual Memorial Award in 2006; and a Fulbright Scholarship in 2001. Livingston’s work resides in the permanent collections of the Shenzhen Fine Art Institute, the Seattle Art Museum, King County, the City of Seattle, the Portland Art Museum, and the Henry Art Gallery. Her 2016 video, “Dragging a Painting,” was supported by the Seattle Art Museum, where it is currently on view. The Portland Art Museum presented her solo exhibition in 2015. She is represented by Luis De Jesus Los Angeles and Greg Kucera in Seattle.
The series is sponsored by the Lewis & Clark College Art & Art History Department and takes place in conjunction with ART 311, the Junior Seminar on Contemporary Art and Theory.
