Hello from Dublin! It’s been just over a month since we’ve been here in Dublin and it has been a very eventful month. We all found our own spots across the city for lunch, take-away, “late night food” and cafés. Some favorites in the lunch department have been Verde where you can get a huge and delicious burrito for €6.50, Umi falafel and Boojum (irish Chipotle). There are of course many cafés around the city but some of the favorites have been Accents Café, Krüst and Container Coffee (which is literally 1 minute away from our apartments). A special mention must be made to VIncenzo’s for the best “late night food” in Dublin!

This last week has been mostly quiet in the way of classes, but everyone is gearing up for reading week, which is out spring break. FIE threw a little pub quiz on Tuesday night with categories about language, music, film/TV and general knowledge. Third place got bags of chocolates, second place got cute reusable mugs and boxes of chocolates and first place got Dublin sweatshirts. We also went to Glasnevin cemetery on Friday afternoon, which was a wonderful experience in Irish history and we learned some very fun stories about Irish historical figures. For example, Charles Parnell is buried with tens of thousands of other people because he requested “to be buried with the people of Ireland” when we died abroad. Also, Michael Collins’ grave always has fresh flowers on it from his admirers even today!

We’re all resting into our habits and residential rituals, which has been an adventure but so much more lies ahead with upcoming deadlines for essays, our reading week and more adventures to other parts of Ireland.
