Pamplin Society of Fellows

Max Clary

Hometown: Virginia

Major: Chemistry

Bio:

At Lewis and Clark, I am a chemistry major and have general interest in the sciences but I am also deeply passionate about psychology and how we think and how individuals can shape their life to be exactly what they want. I hope one day to be a psychiatrist and change people’s lives the same way mine was. As part of that goal, every day I try to prove to myself and others just how beautiful life can be.  I also have a deep affinity for human rights work; I am Amnesty International’s student area coordinator for Oregon. I am working with the Chemistry department on a research project using photocatalytic compounds as a cheap and viable way to provide clean water for those in need particular in Sub-Saharan Africa. Lastly, I have spent the past year designing a grant to work with a child soldier rehabilitation center in Central Africa and help them improve the way children are being rehabilitating at their center.
