In this lecture, Mohegan theater maker and scholar Madeline Sayet will discuss the historical context of the Native American Theater Movement in the United States, and how it evolves in relationship to the practice of Indigenizing Shakespeare. She will also discuss her own experiences indigenizing Shakespeare, and adapting class works, as well as offer tools to break open and engage with Shakespeare’s plays artistically from your own individual perspectives.
Join us following the lecture at 7:30pm for the world premier of Yvette Nolan’s translation of Shakespeare’s Henry IV, directed by Waylon Lenk.
