The Lewis & Clark speech & debate squad is one of the most successful full-service programs in the United States, as its competitors have excelled in both debate and individual events.

The L&C team has been around nearly since the founding of the college, and it is one of the most active and well-supported intercollegiate activities at Lewis & Clark, with individualized coaching and a supportive team culture. McDonagh and Talamantez take top two spots at national championship

Lewis & Clark’s Raine McDonagh (’20) and Mary Talamantez (’20) were named the top two individual speakers in the nation at the 2020 National Parliamentary Debate Association’s Championship Tournament.

Dead Heat: Lewis & Clark’s Knighton & Lutz tie to seal team’s fifth straight NFC championship

Ally Knighton (’21) and Aaron Lutz (’22) made history in the Northwest Forensics Conference by tying for the Coaches Commemorative Award, granted to the student who performs the best across three designated regional championships throughout the season. Their win was the fifth consecutive CCA award from Lewis & Clark, which was also honored with the gold medal for overall team performance.

Strong Start for Speech and Debate in San Francisco

The Lewis & Clark speech and debate team garnered first place four-year school honors at the Golden Gate Opener, held September 20-22 at San Francisco State University. Competitors won three debate events and six individual events in earning top honors.

Lewis & Clark’s Knighton and Lutz are national champions

Ally Knighton is the National Forensic Association’s national champion in Informative Speaking and Aaron Lutz is the NFA national champion in Extemporaneous Speaking.

Lewis & Clark’s Ally Knighton and Brady Quick each earned 3rd place finishes at the National Speech Championship.
