Artist Statement Guide

An artist statement for the Gender Studies Symposium Art Show submission may include, though is not limited, to this list of possible details about your work:

1. An introduction to your work, whether it is descriptive or theoretical (why did you make this piece? What was your inspiration?)
2. A brief discussion as to how this work relates to you and/or the intention(s) of the piece?
3. Explain how you hope the audience will receive and interpret this work and/or possible questions about its interpretation

Mostly, it is important that you tell the audience what you wish for them to know about your piece(s), the process of creating, and/or your reflections on your piece(s). Be specific to your experience and your work rather than general!
