  CURATORIAL STATEMENT

This year’s art exhibition showcases the diverse ways in which the featured artists mediate practices of care and the many politics embedded within it. Much of the artwork contains personal negotiations involving various forms of care that are often gendered and go unnoticed. This exhibition puts visual and aesthetic expression in conversation with the content shared by this year’s speakers and panelists in a captivating and intriguing manner. By including artwork of various artistic styles and media, we aim to create a holistic exploration of the ways in which different artists and groups of people portray their experiences of gender, sexuality, and care. We hope this exhibit encourages viewers to reflect on notions of care within a wide variety of contexts, as well as allows them to reflect on their own understandings and relationship(s) with these themes.
