    • The Sky Between You and Me

      Catherine Alene BA ’95 writes a contemporary young adult novel in verse that chronicles the story of Raesha, a barrel racer determined to do whatever it takes to win. Determined to become leaner, lighter, and faster, Raesha decides she needs to lose weight, never guessing that her decision will open the door to a life-threatening eating disorder.

      Jin Chen Cooper BA ’95 is an associate in research at the Harvard Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies and a rapporteur for the Harvard Asia Center. She has completed three books in a series entitled Notes from Harvard on Economics. All three of her books have been translated from Chinese into Korean and published in Seoul. She expects her fourth book, an updated version of some of her column series, to come out in late 2017. She lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with her husband and two children.

      Rob Dirksen BS ’95 is still practicing optometry. Recently, Dirksen, his husband, and their two kids (ages 2 and 5) moved from Los Angeles to Arroyo Grande, California, on the central coast. They love the new location. Dirksen enjoys gardening on their three acres, and he has a small apiary, which he calls a “sweet hobby.”

      Linda Estergard BS ’95, after graduating from Lewis & Clark, went on to earn her master’s degree in social work from Portland State University and her doctorate in clinical psychology from Walden University. In 2003, she cofounded the Lake Oswego Counseling Center, where she now serves as clinical director. Estergard is married, is the mother of three children, and resides a few blocks from the Lewis & Clark campus.

      Tamar Hare BA ’95 and her husband, Eric Hare BS ’95, celebrated 21 years of marriage last year. A nurse herself, Tamar manages a team of advice nurses for Kaiser Permanente. Eric is an accountant for New Seasons Market. They live in Portland with their 15-year-old son and 11-year-old daughter.

      Carly Henderson BA ’95, MA ’02 has worked in the counseling psychology field since 2002, first overseas in Tanzania, the Czech Republic, and Italy, and then returning to Portland in 2008. She owns MindWise Therapy in Southeast Portland and enjoys working as a child and family therapist. She lives close to her extended family in Northeast Portland, with 6-year-old daughter Lily, husband Ben, and some critters.

      Sol Hill BA ’95 works as a contemporary mixed media and photographic artist in Santa Barbara, California, with his wife, Cleo, and his son, Luca. He splits his time between operating the FNK ZN ART SPC, a venue for local contemporary art exhibitions; creating lyrical and mysterious mixed-media “metagraphs” from digital artifacts, Japanese paper, and acrylic; and creating large-scale art installation projects that deal with social justice issues.       Zachary Isenberg BS ’95 does editing and producing for TV. He’s worked on the reality  shows Making the Band and Expedition Unknown, as well as the docuseries Leah Rimini: Scientology and the Aftermath. He and his wife, Elizabeth, are busy raising their two sons, Oscar and Hugo. In March, 2018, before his 45th birthday, Isenberg plans to run the LA Marathon. He is currently working with fellow alum Jason Lesner BS ’95 on a new VH1 reality show.

      Moss Kaplan BA ’95 is currently cochair of the creative writing department at Denver School of the Arts. Kaplan wrote, with Greg Ungar, a play entitled The Mess of Us, which debuted in summer 2017 at Creede Repertory Theatre in Colorado as part of the Headwaters New Play Festival.

      Jenny Nugent Melgaard BA ’95 married Lasse Melgaard BA ’94. Together, they have two gorgeous, spirited boys. Jenny earned her MPH and has worked in community health and development in Thailand, Vietnam, Washington, D.C., Malawi, Namibia, and Uganda. Recently, the family of four lived in Sydney, Australia; however, in April, they moved to Suva, Fiji, where Lasse works with the World Bank. Jenny is home shepherding the rowdy boys.

      Alex Moggridge BA ’95 had his play Simon Dawes Becomes a Planet produced off Broadway in fall 2016. His other plays have also received attention: The Squirrel was included in New York’s Summer Play Festival, and Manatee was part of the New York International Fringe Festival.

      Josh Uithof BA ’95 is part owner of a kayak guide service, called Kayak Tillamook, on the Oregon Coast. He also guides Rites of Passage trips with several local organizations, substitute teaches at Jesuit High School, serves on the Manzanita Farmers Market Board of Directors, and lives in a yurt off the grid in the Nehalem Valley. His hobbies include firewood-related activities and ontological studies.

      Juanita Vero BA ’95 returned to working full time on her family’s Montana guest ranch in 1997. The ranch is located on the Blackfoot River in Greenough. Visitors are encouraged. Vero married ecologist Matthew Rinella of Miles City, Montana, in 2014. She says they enjoy no children and living eight hours apart.

      Vaunne Weathers BA ’95 and Cody Weathers BS ’95 live in Portland with their two daughters (ages 11 and 13) and a Kelpie mutt named Winston. Vaunne earned an MA in industrial psychology from Portland State University in 2005 and is an office manager for a local dental practice. Cody is active in the local music scene and has an unassuming day job as a business data analyst.

      Kit Wilding BA ’95, MAT ’97 and her family just returned to Oregon after living and teaching in China and Dubai for the last seven years. Her older son is a senior at Wilson High School and her younger son is a freshman there. Wilding teaches in the West Linn-Wilsonville School District.
