About the sailing club:

The Lewis & Clark Sailing Club is an amazing opportunity for any student to be a part of. We accept participants of all skill levels, though some racing experience is helpful. We are a regular member of the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association and compete regularly in regattas around the Northwest, in Oregon, Washington, and Victoria, BC throughout the year. During the fall season, regattas are held every weekend from mid-September through the end of October, and in the spring, they are almost every weekend from early February to mid-May. Most regattas are fleet racing, but we do have a few team racing and match racing regattas. Our small team is growing, and has been doing well in regional regattas since we started practicing with an experienced coach in the fall of 2009.

Practices:

We practice with PSU on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 3 to ~6 PM at the Willamette Sailing Club. Directions can be found on the Resources page.

Get on our email list (sailing@lclark.edu) to get emails about carpools to practice.

Boats:

The sailing club owns two double-handed Flying Juniors. These are 14 foot dinghys very similar to 420s. We use these in some practices and most regattas. We also own a single-handed Laser for single-hand events.  We are planning to buy 1-2 new FJs in the spring of 2012.

How to join:

  1. E-mail The Club to get onto the mailing list.
  2. Fill out a LC Club Release Waiver.
  3. Come to practice!
