Student Life
The Pathfinder, Fall 2011
Dear Lewis & Clark Students:
Welcome as you enter or return to the Lewis & Clark College community! Whether you are a new Pioneer or preparing to graduate with the Class of 2012, you are part of a community of students, faculty, and staff who are deeply committed to the ideals of active learning—in the classroom, in athletics, in the mountains, in artistic performance, in student government, or while otherwise involved in LC campus life or civic engagement in Portland.
You are responsible for your College experience—so make the most of the academic curriculum and the many involvement opportunities here. Work intentionally with others to develop and refine your leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Recognize how you are both independent and interdependent—while becoming your own best advocate. Reflect on your activities, appreciate all that you are learning, and recognize all that you are contributing.
Your involvement and investment in our campus are guided by the primary values of our community—we are adventurous, supportive, diverse, engaged, and just. These values help ensure our collective commitment to civility in our interactions with each other, as well as our compassionate responsibility to each other.
We urge you to consult your on-line student handbook–The Pathfinder– carefully as you are responsible for knowing its contents. The explicit expectations of the Lewis & Clark community are outlined in the code of conduct and college policies, as well as other policies that help us live and work together effectively and harmoniously.
The “Academic Planner” is a feature that puts even more information and the many resources available at your fingertips.
On behalf of the College, we look forward to learning and working together during the 2011-2012 academic year. Sending you best wishes for a successful year, we remain,
Sincerely yours,
Jeffrey A. Feld-Gore and Latricia Brand
