    As residents of Lewis & Clark, on-campus students are in a unique position to give feedback about the development of the campus and what it would mean to the student population.
    Last Tuesday, Sept. 7, Dean of Students and Chief Diversity Officer Celestino Limas conducted a series of open discussions in order to access the residents’ insightful perspective on the prospect of a new residence hall and/or a new three-year residency requirement.

    This year’s Associated Students of Lewis & Clark’s Senate election will take place starting at noon today, Sept. 17, until Monday Sept. 20 at noon. Eleven first years are competing for the four spots allotted to their class. Along with them, seven sophomores, four juniors and five seniors are running.

    If you’re one who walks or jogs between East Apartment and the Facilities Office occasionally, and if you’re also an astute observer, you may have noticed this year that the sizeable fleet of Suburbans that used to be stockaded in the parking lot next to Copeland have disappeared. Some of them are still around—College Outdoors now owns one of them, and the Athletic Department owns one of the others, but the college has sold off the rest of the vanpool, as of this summer.

    Lewis & Clark students received an e-mail from the Office of Transportation & Parking on August 20 announcing that the new Pioneer Express stop has moved to SW 6th and Salmon from its previous Pioneer Square location.

    You’ve seen the signs, or at least what’s left of them. You’ve heard the grumbling. Regardless of your stance on the matter, LC implemented a major shift in its official attitude towards smoking tobacco on August 23.

    A revised New Student Orientation advising system was implemented for incoming students this year. In previous years, initial advising sessions were conducted between a single student and faculty member. This year, each guidance session was comprised of a group of approximately ten students per advisor.

      There have been many changes and additions to on-campus dining this year, from differences in the menu to longer hours at the Trail Room.  In an interview with Executive Chef Aaron Dionne and Assistant Mac Lary, the ins and outs of all of the alterations were made clear:

    In August of 2009, former President Thomas Hochstettler resigned to take a position with the American University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates; since then Provost Jane Atkinson has been serving as the interim president.  The search has lasted many months, but in late July, Lewis & Clark finally announced that the search has ended; Barry Glassner will be taking the presidential position in late October.
