As a follow up to the inspiring talk given by Jose Antonio Vargas a few weeks ago, the Office of Multicultural Affairs wanted to keep you updated on local Portland immigration issues and ways you can get involved!!

Listed Below are a few organizations doing great work around issues of immigration in the Portland area. Check them out and get involved!
  1. Center for Intercultural Organizing: As a member-run organization, CIO is composed of and powered by ordinary folks. CIO members come from diverse cultural, ethnic, economic, and religious backgrounds. They are immigrants, refugees, U.S.-born citizens, workers, students, asylees, moms, dads, grandparents and, most importantly, allies in the struggle for social justice. Our members share a common belief in a multi-racial, multicultural democracy inclusive of all—and the passion to put their beliefs into action

  1. Portland Central America Solidarity Committee:  Founded in 1979, the Portland Central America Solidarity Committee educates and mobilizes community members, workers and students around struggles for human rights and social justice throughout the Americas.
