Meet the OMA’s New Student Intern
July 11, 2012
Name: Carley Matsumoto
Major: Environmental Studies
Hometown: Chicago, IL
Favorite Food: Dark Chocolate and Mangoes
Activities/Interests: This will be my 4th year serving on the Pluralism and Unity Board, I host a KLC radio show, I’ve played Taiko (traditional Japanese drums) since I was a child and haven’t stopped since and lastly, I enjoy cooking, however, I am not very skilled at it.
As the OMA Intern…
I hope to be both a leader and supporter for the activities and projects that the office undertakes. I am looking forward to taking charge of my own programming and searching for ways to collaborate with other student groups in order to strengthen networks of support and partnership. My interests may seem erratic; from environmental justice, to race and humor, however, what binds them is the notion that at the base of these issues lies a community that is being effected. To me, the foundation of culture and tradition stems from communal bonds and by exploring the struggles and successes of various communities through different lenses, we can reflect upon our own traditions and what it means to be a part of the fabric of Lewis & Clark.
