  • Hawaii Club @ Operation Nightwatch

5:00pm Operation Nightwatch is a hospitality center for the homeless and low-income population in Portland. It is a place for them to come and relax and socialize with others without it being in a park or on the sidewalk. They have games for guests to play and they serve coffee, lemonade, and sandwiches. As a volunteer your purpose is to be welcoming to the guests and to interact with them. It is a really casual fun volunteering opportunity and great to do with a group.

A term not often heard, but a phenomenon more abundant than you might think: it refers to a geographical region, whether it be urban or rural, where people have limited or no access to foods that fulfill their nutritional needs. Where are they located? What variables can add up to severely limited food access? How do they exist in the Portland METRO area?

  • Politically Incorrect

7:00pm Is Lewis & Clark too “PC”? Is political correctness bad or good? Can we really talk frankly about issues like gay marriage, reparations for African Americans, drugs, abortion–anything that’s “off limits” for everyday dinner conversation? ASLC invites all members of the LC community to come together to talk about political (in)correctness in a safe and informal setting.
