Theme Communities
Theme housing options are designed to enhance your residential experience by supporting your academic interests or lifestyle preferences. Themed communities allow students with common interests and pursuits to live together and support each other through planned activities and informal interactions.
Themes are evaluated on a regular basis, and new themes are developed in response to proposals from students to address particular interests and needs in the community.
For a new student interested in applying for one or more of the themed communities, you must complete the corresponding application and return it with your complete Residence Hall Contract and Room Placement Questionnaire by the May 1, 2013 deadline. Just click on the link below and download the form for completion. Sorry, you can’t fill it out online. If you are applying for more than one theme, simply fill out the appropriate applications and return them with your Contract and Questionnaire. Please be sure your hall choices correspond to your preferences for the themes as well.
For continuing students who are applying to move to a theme the deadline for an application is March 15, 2013. If you are applying to return to the theme, you must complete a Themed Community Reflection by March 15, 2013 as well.
For the 2013-2014 academic year, our themes include the following:
- Multicultural Engagement Theme - Akin Hall
- Visual & Performing Arts (VAPA) Theme - in Platt Hall
- Outdoor Pursuits Theme - in Howard Hall
- Wellness Theme - Stewart Hall
- Pioneers in Environmental Action & Service (PEAS) - in Forest Hall
If you are a continuing student and currently reside in a themed community and wish to return to that community for the 2013-14 academic year, you must complete the Theme Community Reflection form below. Please return the completed form to Campus Living no later than Friday, March 15, 2013.
