REVOLUTION & THE NEW MIDDLE EAST MONA ELTAHWY (Award-winning Columnist, Activist)

The Arab Spring two years later: What does the road ahead for reform look like? Cited as one of the “150 Women Who Shake The World,” by Newsweek, Egyptian-born Mona Eltahawy is an activist and award-winning columnist-commentator (for Reuters, the Washington Post, the Guardian, PBS, Frontline, CNN, and others) who is shaping our understanding of the new democratic realities of the Middle East.

Every year the Oregon World Affairs Council puts on a series of speakers featuring some of the most influential people in the world. This year’s speakers are George Papandreou, Mona Eltahawy and Richard Leakey.

Tickets are $37.50 for this year’s series of three speakers (or $12.50 per speaker), but ASLC and Student Activities are re-selling tickets to students for $6 each (or $18 for all three of this year’s speakers). You can only purchase one ticket per speaker. Please email activity@lclark.edu to reserve a ticket, and be sure to specify which speaker(s) you want tickets for. Tickets will be distributed on a rolling basis throughout this semester and you can pay for your ticket(s) when you pick them up (cash only please) from Student Activities (lower level of Templeton in the Campus Living suite). Send your requests and pick up/pay for your tickets soon because there is a limited number of tickets and they are available on a first-come basis!
