Associated Students of Lewis & Clark (ASLC)

Community Relations Committee (CRC)

Who We Are:

The Community Relations Committee facilitates dialogues and activities between Lewis & Clark students, the Lewis & Clark administration, and the greater Portland community.  It promotes programs and projects that foster connections between these groups and creates a sense of community on campus. CRC also acts as an advocate for the interests of students by hosting events such as Common Hour and helping students act on their ideas.

Committee Applications

Applications are due on or before Friday, September 30 by 5PM in the Cabinet office (slide under the door if no one is there) or email them to crc@lclark.edu.

Grants:

Lewis & Clark students may apply to the Community Relations Committee for grants or project ideas. We welcome grants for research opportunities, volunteer positions, artwork on campus, and many other ideas that may be academic in nature or that somehow add value to the Lewis & Clark community. To avoid redundancies, you may use the Student Academic Affairs Board (SAAB) grant applications for most topics. Research grants must have a letter of recommendation from a professor or staff member at Lewis & Clark. Grants or projects that do not match the SAAB criteria should use the CRC grant application.

All applicants will give a 10 minute presentation in front of the committee. The presentation should briefly review the project idea and its merits, logistical details, the budget, concerns with the implementing the project, and how it will contribute to the Lewis & Clark community.  Please contact the committee chair at crc@lclark.edu if you have any questions.

- Deadlines:

For Spring 2012, the final deadline for all grants is 5:00 pm, Monday, April 23.

- Community Relations Committee Grant: Some examples of topics are domestic or international volunteer opportunities, dances or music festivals on campus (the arts/expression grant may be more appropriate; should be determined on a case by case basis), and projects that address environmental issues. The application can be found here:
