Q: What’s an Activities Fair?

A: At the beginning of each semester, the Office of Student Activities hosts the Activities Fair. It’s part of PIO FAIR in the fall semester. At the Activities Fair, students can check out the many clubs and organizations on campus, talk to student leaders and organizers, and explore new interests. It’s the event to go to if you want to get involved!

Q: How are student activities funded?

A: Most student activities are funded through Student Activity Fees, which are administered by ASLC. Some student activities are funded by individual academic and administrative departments, or in collaboration with student, academic and administrative areas.

Q: Is the Office of Student Activities the same thing as the Activities Congress?

A: No. The Office of Student Activities is an administrative office of Student Life. The Activities Congress is a part of ASLC/Student Government. The relationship between the two is that the Office of Student Activities advises the Activities Congress.

Q: How do I get involved in student activities?

A: There are many ways to get involved in student activities. You can just attend a program or event, take part in the planning process, or actually lead a program from start to finish. The important thing is to get involved!

Q: How do I find out what’s happening on campus?

A: The best way to find out about programs is the LC Website Calendar. Activities are also advertised through Opportunities & Announcements, the Pio Log, KLC, flyers, table tents, banners, word of mouth, mailings, and posters.

Q: What if I have an idea for a program? How do I make that program a reality?

A: The Office of Student Activities can help you make your program a reality. Just come by the office and we can discuss your event. (The Office of Campus Events is also a good resource to help you with creating your event.)
