Section Preference Information
Spring 2012 Course Section Descriptions
Spring 2012 On-line Preference Form
The Preference Form is now closed. If you did not get your preference in, please email explore@lclark.edu immediately.
You have the opportunity to indicate five preferences for your Exploration and Discovery section. When making selections, you are encouraged to take an active role and use the E&D website to review the section descriptions as well as the faculty teaching in the course, including their academic backgrounds, disciplines, and research interests.
You may not select the same professor for your spring section that you had for your fall section. This policy encourages students to explore new disciplines and meet other faculty with different approaches and ideas.
-
It is important for students to note:
- If you do not complete the on-line E&D section preference form by the deadline you will be assigned to a section on a space-available basis.
- Class times are 1:50 - 2:50pm (with the exception of several morning sections) and all classes are held on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
- Several faculty members teach multiple sections; therefore it is important to note the time of the class you are selecting.
- Overload or wait-list requests not accepted.
- Changing sections is limited to open seats and no changes are allowed after the third class session. All changes must be discussed and approved with the program coordinator. The standard add/drop policy does not apply to Exploration and Discovery.
If you have additional questions, please review the E&D Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)

This helpful video will provide further details on how to submit an E&D preference form.
Although every effort will be made to honor your section preference, we cannot guarantee that all students will be assigned to one of their preferred selections. This is due to several factors:
- All sections are limited to 19 students (no exceptions).
- Varsity athletes are encouraged to talk with their coaches to determine if morning sections are necessary to avoid conflict with practices and game schedules.
- Preferences are prioritized by demographic factors and not just by the date they are received.
