Seattle Alumni and Parents Event

Join undergraduate alumni, parents, admitted students and friends for a special event with Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences Tuajuanda Jordan. Dean Jordan will announce plans for a new Entrepreneurship Center at L&C. She will be joined by special guest Micah Leinbach ’14, who will offer the student perspective on the L&C experience.

More on the Speakers

Tuajuanda Jordan joined the Lewis & Clark community on July 1, 2011, in her role as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Jordan previously served as a program director at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI). She received a B.S. in chemistry from Fisk University in 1982 and a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Purdue University in 1989. She was an undergraduate scholar and a graduate fellow of the National Institutes of Health Minority Access to Research Careers (MARC) program, for which she served on the subcommittee many years later.  She did her postdoctoral training at the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine in cell biophysics and pharmacognosy. Jordan was a tenured faculty member in the Department of Chemistry at Xavier University of Louisiana and a visiting scientist at the University of Michigan in biophysics.

An avid inter-disciplinarian, Micah Leinbach attends Lewis & Clark College where he majors in Environmental Studies. Raised in the Great Lakes region, a transition zone in every sense of the word, he became fascinated by the way very different subjects – and people – can be mixed together with powerful results. That includes the way a liberal arts background and an entrepreneurial mindset can create value. In pursuit of a career in outdoor education (and in response to a tough job market) Micah recently started his own outdoor program in northern Michigan. Though continuing his work as an outdoor professional, he has returned to Lewis & Clark to focus on the way his studies can contribute to his work as an educator.
