Landon Mascarenaz
Class of 2005
Gallup, New Mexico
Landon currently lives in Gallup, New Mexico, where he is the Executive Director at Teach for America – New Mexico, a position he has held since 2007, after previously serving as a corps member for TFA and then a teacher at Church Rock Academy in New Mexico. As Executive Director, Landon leads and sets vision for a teaching corps of 100 teachers and 6 staff members, as well as many national support staff and external stakeholders. Under his leadership the program saw a 300% increase in funding totaling $1.3 million from public and private sources, and over 70% of the teachers achieved at least one year worth of growth in the highest-needs education environment in the state. His staff also boasts being the highest-satisfied staff within TFA.
At Lewis & Clark, Landon majored in International Affairs and Communications. He was the ASLC President, member of Model UN, and a decorated debate team member. In 2005, he was the 3rd place semi-finalist at NPDA nationals, previously winning 1st place at Mark O. Hatfield Invitational in 2007 and 1st place at the University of Portland in 2004. Landon continues to be involved in many volunteer organizations for youth development, support networks for young professionals, political campaigns, and public policy.
Landon’s experience in service and education will be a valuable addition to the Board, as a large number of LC students do go into teaching and public service. His management, team work, fundraising, and leadership skills will benefit Board’s projects and outreach to the alumni community. Landon brings with him a tremendous quality of experience for a young professional.
