German Studies and Theatre

I really like the size of Lewis & Clark and its campus and location. It's beautiful all year-round and it's easy to access downtown. So far my favorite classes at LC have been Stage Lighting and American Theatre. I am currently studying abroad in Munich for a full year.

After I graduate I picture myself moving back to Salt Lake City and establishing myself as a lighting designer, then going to grad school for German, to eventually teach it.

Extracurricular activities I participate in include Track and Field and helping out with the College Outdoors office. I have also lived on the "Outdoor Pursuits" themed floor in Howard hall. Other things I like to do include reading, hiking, rock climbing, biking, writing and exploring Portland.

My advice to prospective students would be to figure out your best fit by going where you feel comfortable. Don't go to a school because your parents or friends think you should. Go where it feels the best to you.

History

I enjoy a very active lifestyle. Participating on the swim team for the last couple of years has proven to be one of my favorite things about college. It pulls together a group of students from all different areas of study, and we're all friends. Additionally, I've done a few College Outdoors programs (though I'd like to do more), and I love hiking, skiing, and going for walks around campus (rain or shine). Oh yeah, the campus--it's BEAUTIFUL. Also, you can tell that everyone truly appreciates the sunny days when we have them, because everyone is sitting outside on the grass.

I love the people here--every new class I take or event I attend, I meet someone new and interesting. There are lots of opportunities to spend time with friends drawing, writing, cooking, playing piano, or just hanging out. L&C feels right for me, and I think that's the most important thing to keep in mind when people go through the college search process. Don't stress about it too much, and just find a place that feels right.
